Our Story & Heritage
Set in the heart of Alex Park, Harare, the Hellenic Group of Schools offers a co-educational journey shaped by heritage, elevated by excellence, and anchored in values that have stood the test of time. From our Primary School, founded in 1975, to the Hellenic Academy, established in 2008, our story is one of growth, purpose, and an enduring belief in the potential of every young person.
At the heart of our ethos is Excellence and Honour. Our motto, 'Always Excellence,' captures the standard we hold ourselves to, while 'philotimo' - to live with honour - reminds us of the heart, humility, and integrity that shape how our community shows up each day. Together, they form the compass that guides who we are.

As Director of the Hellenic Schools, I am proud to lead a school community rooted in strong values, academic, sporting, and cultural excellence, and a deep sense of belonging. The Hellenic Group of Schools offers a seamless educational journey from Early Childhood through to A Levels, combining rigorous academics with outstanding opportunities in sport, culture, leadership, and service. Our schools are built on the principles of Excellence (Ayien Aristeyein) and Honour (Philotimo), encouraging pupils to think critically, act with integrity, and contribute meaningfully to the School, the Community and the world.
The school embraces historical values and traditions from our Greek culture. It balances them with an innovative, progressive mindset, ensuring our pupils are prepared for both local and global career pathways. We recognise that each pupil has an individually unique route through School life, and our offering of exceptional teaching, sound pastoral guidance, and a strong co-curricular programme sits at the heart of what the Hellenic Schools journey is about.
