Zimbabwe Water Polo Training Camp and Festival

Towards the end of the August holidays, Hellenic co-hosted the Zimbabwe Water Polo Training Camp. It was a resounding success. A number of our pupils took part and gained so much from the experience!

ZIMBABWE TRAINING CAMP
Zimbabwe Water Polo showcased a great 8 day training camp held in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Over 280 athletes from as young as 11 up to the age of 18 years old.

The camp consisted of 12 international coaches from Argentina, Australia, Canada, Italy, USA, Ghana and South Africa.

Athletes had 6 days of training which ended in a two day festival.

The training sessions were shared between three different venues over the city.

Melvin, Michelle Hunter and camp Head Coach Luke Manthe have been hard at planning the camp for the last 4 months ensuring it a success! Well done to everyone involved!

Zimbabwe Water Polo Camp Head Coach Luke Manthe brought in the coaches from all over the world. When looking for the coaches his focus was not only to bring in a good coaching staff but to bring in good people. This proved to be a success as every athlete at the camp loved the coaches.

The final day concluded with a coaches vs players match which had over 600 people in attendance in the stands.

Due to the pandemic Zimbabwe has had no water polo for two years and the camps mission was to revive the sport in the country again and make the athletes fall in love with the sport.
