As part of the exploration of metaphors, Form 2 Basil wrote metaphor poems. This particular poem written by Lianna Haji-Christou, captures the struggle of writer’s block and anyone who has had to write an essay can relate.

Writer’s Block
Scrambling for words in the unyielding dirt
As the sun beats overhead, scorching my thoughts
The ideas in my head seemed to have flown away
Their wings flapping in the breeze
The train of thought has since left the station
The images in my mind photographed by a broken camera
Forever blurry and unclear
The letters are hiding behind the bushes
But they shuffle away as soon as I get near
So I stand there as the time melts away
And the sand trickles in the hourglass
But as the sun tucks away
And the moon awakens
The moon rays eliminate the dense fog in my brain
And fresh ideas blossom at last.
