Against a fantastical set of Miss Havisham’s crumbling mansion, complete with a rat chewed, cobwebbed wedding feast, we watched young Pip navigate the trials of childhood, unrequited love and terrible revelations. Our cast created most of the sets and props with their bodies and this innovative approach, together with some excellent acting, won us the Reps AFDIS award for best production. The awards ceremony was only held this year so, sadly many of our senior actors had already left the school but, apparently, there were shrieks of excitement from some far away universities on hearing the news.
We have entered the Reps festival again this year, with Dr Hovelmeier’s adaptation of Twelfth Night. Finger’s crossed!
