This past week, the Hellenic Academy Debate team competed at Chisipite Senior School in an inter-school tournament. We entered a team at each of the three levels (Junior, Intermediate and Senior). They all “debated” hard and, at the end of the competition, the Intermediate and Senior teams were declared the winners of their sections.

All the runners should be congratulated for their efforts and achievements. It was wonderful to witness all the runners push themselves to complete the course in their attempt to help their house challenge for the overall Inter-House cup.

Well done to all the competitors who took part – excellent results and outstanding efforts from everyone.

We are immensely proud of Maria’s efforts and endurance thus far and wish her the best of luck as she competes in aid of the Makomborero Zimbabwe Educational Trust.

Hellenic Academy is grateful for the opportunity to have had the experienced and successful Katherine Rundell demonstrate how exciting and how possible it is to pursue a career in creative writing.

The Academy aims to celebrate the achievements of its pupils at every opportunity and our motto of “Always Excellence” was very evident at the first Awards Assembly of 2022, held on Wednesday, 16 February.

On the 9th of February, Hellenic Academy was able to host the “School Blessing” service in the School Chapel for the first time in two years!

For Hellenic, the Interact Valentine’s Day Roses exchange has become a tradition.  Not only does a sense of excitement and suspense ripple through our school, but the question is, ‘Will I receive a rose?’ echoes through the whole pupil body.

The Academy held a prize giving ceremony for our Form 1, 2 and 3 pupils on Friday, 11th February to acknowledge last year’s high achievers in the various subjects that are offered.

Despite having to battle the pandemic which has caused chaos in schools across the world, Hellenic Academy never stopped encouraging, pushing and pulling their pupils to fulfil their many gifts and achieve their personal bests!
